Love sharing stories from our #FIT4MOM community, like this from @fit4momchattanooga (I’ve had goosebumps and chills for the last five minutes after reading this, by the way...) — ・・・ Happy month of YOU, mama! Today we are celebrating with a story of bravery & strength, by one of our own special mamas. After a GRUELING 24 hours of labor on a hot July night, an emergency c-section and the longest 5 minutes of newborn CPR ever, Taylor Massey welcomed sweet Annie into this world!! Read Taylor’s story below (we would love to hear yours too!) - “I went into labor with Annie on July 8th 2015. After 24 hours of not much progress and having a fever of 104 that they could not get down, they decided I needed a c-section. I had to wait a couple of hours in which I started panicking... I felt l that something was wrong with Annie. I was begging them to take me but no one was listening. About an hour later, I started having a crazy contraction (that ended up lasting ~8 mins) & her heart rate was gone. - They repositioned me, changed the monitors, tried stimming her head but nothing was working. After about 2 mins, my midwife started screaming in the hallway that we were coming to the OR. Everyone started ripping things off the wall, she was telling me they were going to put me to sleep, then the OB said they didn’t have time for that & I was going to feel it all 😳! But I didn’t care...I just kept telling them to get her out. Somehow the CRNA turned my spinal block into a spinal epidural in less than 30 seconds (which normally takes like 10 mins). I still felt a lot, but it wasn’t as bad as I was expecting. The OB had a really hard time getting her out bc that crazy contraction shoved her head WAY down into my pelvis, but eventually she was OUT! She had no heart rate & no respiratory effort. They did CPR for 5 agonizing minutes & were able to resuscitate her! She went at least 12min with no oxygen. They swooped her off to NICU where we spent the next week. - They expected her to have some developmental delays after all that, but she is a thriving (almost 3 year old) who is smart as a whip and has no delays! We are so thankful for our sweet and brave Annie!”- Taylor Massey
