You don't have to suffer in silence!

Mamas, please watch this story!!

This story is near and dear to my heart for two reasons. One, this mama is a friend of one our FIT4MOM mamas and we are so very sorry for their loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with this family. And two, this type of story is the reason I started this awesome franchise in McKinney 9 years ago. I too had postpartum depression with my first son and while it wasn't as bad as it could have been it was still a pretty dark time in my life. I didn't have all the feelings that you are "supposed" to have after you have a baby. I was sad and cried all the time and had lots of abnormal physical anxiety. I was afraid and thought I was a terrible mommy to this sweet little boy that I had just given life to. I fought getting help right away because I was ashamed of my feelings and the thought of being on an anti-depressant or anti-anxiety medication had such a bad stigma attached to it that I just decided to suffer though it. My husband and family were wonderful, but they couldn't convince me at first either. After being miserable for several months I did finally seek help. First with a Christian counselor, who then told me that I shouldn't be ashamed to tell my doctor and get on some meds that would help get my brain chemistry back to normal. I am so glad I finally listened!! I got on the meds and prayed and talked through it all with the counselor and after a few months I was back to normal. I also joined my local Stroller Strides class in California. This helped tremendously because I was outside getting exercise and most importantly around other moms who were in the trenches of motherhood right along with me. My only regret was that I wish I had done all of this sooner! Mamas, you do not have to suffer in silence. Please get help! There are lots of hotlines and resources out there.
